Digital Trail for The Jorvik Viking Centre
In Summer 2014 Hotrod delivered a rapid solution to Jorvik Viking Centre in York to keep crowds entertained while queuing to enter the attraction.
The Jorvik Centre is running a temporary exhibition on everyday items found by archaeologists, and what they tell us of the Viking way of life. The exhibition is expected to be a blockbuster, with visitors queuing around the square outside to enter.
Jorvik asked Hotrod to create a high-quality visitor trail along the queue path to keep the crowds entertained and engaged as they waited. Our solution used graphic panels attached to portico supports, showing high-quality close ups of some of the objects discovered. QR and NFC tags on the graphics allowed visitors to link to our City-Insights digital platform to view the objects in detail and watch films of how they were made and used.
The project was created in just five weeks, and the content is viewable at www.coppergatealive.com
